In 2005 St John's church celebrated 150 years with a series of concerts.
Since then the demand for these concerts has grown steadily. St Johns has been described as a “must play” venue for many young artists.
In 2009 the church was "re-ordered" -pews were removed, a platform built, lighting improved -toilets and a kitchen installed. All of the improvements make music performances even more enjoyable. Wheelchair friendly ramps were installed at both entrances.
THE PERFORMANCE AREA
The platform and front of the platform can accommodate a good-sized orchestra.
There is room in the church to seat 200.
Lighting for the platform area is of very good quality.
There are small rooms available for performers to change.
3 Charity concerts a year are staged without a fee to the promoters or performers
